Toward Eternal Life

ÇÑ¿µ¹ø¿ª/ ¾çÈ¿¼÷(º»Áö¹ø¿ªÀ§¿ø)

About the dusk began to set in, a traveler stopped in front of a mansion and decided to spend the night there. The owner of the mansion refused politely, saying: ¡°This is not an inn; please go across to the inn!¡± Then the traveler asked him more question, thus the conversation continued. ¡°How many generations have lived here?¡± ¡°Sixteen generations. ¡°Are they still alive?¡± ¡°Nonsense! They have been gone a long time.¡± Then the traveler said in delight. ¡°This mansion is just like an inn; 16generations have slept here and gone. Won't you allow me to spend the night?¡± The owner reluctantly received him for the night.

Prepare for Life!

If this world is only a place we go through, there must be a destination. It is a pity if you don't know where to go. I remember a grandmother who used to come to our church saying. ¡°Now the things of the world yonder matters more than the life here.¡± If you are attracted by the gentleness of the inn keeper and the comfortable atmosphere, and try to linger on, it would be a very foolish thing to do. Remember the final destination is waiting for you as the life here on earth comes to an end. Our life is continuous preparation for the future. For the safe tomorrow, we work hard today. We marry in order to have better life. We eat to exist. We prepare for this life and we should prepare even better for the eternal life ahead, because it is only wise to do so.

A gentleman of 53 years of age had a hard life. He was a loser most of his life except a few break through. His left hand is handicapped from the war. He worked at many different jobs. Finally he seemed to have found security in government job. Then he was sent to prison for some minor mistake. In prison, he decided to write a novel suddenly. His novel was successful and he became famous. ¡°Don Quixote¡± was the name of the novel. He became a novelist in prison. The book has been read by many people throughout the world with passion. In the dark prison cell, in his fifties, he accomplished writing the great novel. The almost forgotten as unknown prisoner is a Spanish novelist, Miguel de Cervantes.

What Are You Looking at?

We need destination. You will only waste your time without destination. You cannot accomplish anything, a hopeless loser. People walk in life. We are walking toward the future and the life eternal. If you cannot look ahead, you only lie for today. You try to satisfy the need for the day with all your might only to be disillusioned by the futility of it all. You will regret and wail over the past life. In the snow covered white field, two young men decided to compete who could walk in straighter line. They walked carefully. One line was bent like arrow, and the other was straight. He was asked the reason for straight line. ¡°My feet were here but my eyes were looking toward the pine tree ahead.¡± What are you looking at as you live this life? St. Paul said, ¡°So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God's call through Christ Jesus to the life above.¡±
