 KJV And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter: which thing ought not to be done.
 NIV Now Jacob's sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were filled with grief and fury, because Shechem had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter--a thing that should not be done.

 Afr1953 En die seuns van Jakob het uit die veld gekom toe hulle dit hoor; en die manne was gegrief en baie kwaad, omdat hy 'n skanddaad in Israel begaan het deur met die dogter van Jakob gemeenskap te hou: so iets mag nie gebeur het nie.
